      Job summary

      An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join the GMMH Corporate Safeguarding Team in the role of Safeguarding Practitioner.

      As a member of the team, the postholder will contribute to ensuring that the Trust fulfils its statutory duties and responsibilities, and that staff are aware of their responsibilities in relation to the safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk

      Main duties of the job

      The postholder, with support from the wider team, will work with complex safeguarding issues requiring strong communication skills, confidence in working and engaging with external agencies, the ability to challenge poor practice, and to be alert to and supportive of measures to improve standards and practice. They will work closely with partners from across the wider safeguarding system and participate in internal and external meetings, to support the delivery of safe and effective safeguarding processes. The postholder will contribute to external and internal reporting, information-sharing as required across the safeguarding system, complete audits to monitor safeguarding practice, develop policies and guidance, and deliver safeguarding training.

      Essential

      • Current Registered practitioner in health/social care e.g. RMN, Social Work
      • Proven years post registration experience in an area where safeguarding experience has been built upon

      Knowledge

      Essential

      • Recent clinical experience of working with vulnerable children and/or adults and their families
      • Experience in dealing with contentious and emotive information and advising on management of sensitive cases
      • Knowledge of key legislation relevant to safeguarding adults and children and young people i.e., Care Act, Children Act, MCA/DoLs
      • Experience in dealing with contentious and emotive information and advising on management of sensitive cases

      Desirable

      • Experience of participating in clinical and safeguarding supervision
      • Experience of participating and undertaking audits
