      SUMMARY
      Westlake Corporation is offering an opportunity to apply your experience and skills as Supervisor - Safety & Emergency Response/Fire Chief based in Lake Charles, LA. This position works under the guidance of Sr. Management for a facility and will perform assigned supervisory responsibilities for emergency response services from detailed instructions, established policies and procedures.

      DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

      May include, but are not limited to, the following:

      • Manage / Plans / Implements policies and procedures to ensure an effective Emergency Response Team to include fire suppression, fire prevention, rescue response, medical and hazardous materials response in accordance with NFPA, Federal, State and local standards.

      • Participate as a member of the IC structure.

      • Ensures regular inspections of plant emergency systems and equipment are completed per regulatory requirements.

      • Ensure that all standard practices / policies as part of the Fire and Emergency Response Services team are adhered to at all times.

      • May lead or assists in investigations of all alarms, fires and other emergency response incidents to determine root causes and development of corrective actions to reduce the potential of recurrence of similar incidents. Develops and follows all corrective actions to closure.

      • Responsible for all coordination of emergency response regulatory training for both site and E-Team members and provides leadership direction to all E-Team members at a site.

      • Manages the budget and proof testing of over 140 fire suppression systems along with the maintenance of the firewater system (over 500 hydrants, PIVs, monitors and five diesel pumps)

      • Manage and directs Firewater Protection Systems Planner along with four Emergency Response Specialists

      • Chair the multi-faceted Emergency Response Steering Team

      EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

      • Associate degree in a directly related technical field and 7-10 years progressive experience; or H.S. diploma with 10-15 years progressive experience.

      • Must have or achieve certifications for Fire Fighting, Rescue Services, Medical First Responder and Hazmat Specialist Level and other specialized training within 12-months of hire.

      • Successful candidates must satisfy background screening, including motor vehicle record screening, drug testing & pre-employment physical requirements before starting work.

      • A current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required.

      PHYSICAL DEMANDS

      While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

      WORK ENVIRONMENT

      The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
