Associate’s degree in emergency management, law enforcement, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three (3) years professional experience in risk/safety management, business operations continuity planning, security, law enforcement, emergency management, or related.
Knowledge of federal/state laws such as FEMA and Homeland Security requirements sufficient to administer security and emergency management responsibilities.
Oral and written communication skills sufficient to develop and present training on security and/or emergency management issues/policy/practices, and develop and write policies and procedures, programs, and reports.
Computer skills sufficient to use general office application/productivity software (e.g., computer operating system, e-mail, word-processing, database/spreadsheet, calendar/scheduling, presentation graphics, Internet browser, search software).
Ability to review and evaluate work environments, identify/recognize potential security hazards and emergency management needs, and evaluate and apply corrective measures.
ALICE training/certification.
Advanced Incident Command System training and related Homeland Security and FEMA course work.
Knowledge of standard police practices including rules of evidence, investigation techniques and procedures, citizen’s arrest power, loss prevention techniques, intrusion alarms, detection, surveillance systems and networking, radio and communications equipment, and fire alarms.
Knowledge of Clery Act sufficient to administer security and emergency management responsibilities.
Written and oral communications skills sufficient to interview witnesses, victims, suspects, and defuse conflicts and violent situations.
Knowledge of Right to Know, Occupation Safety (OSHA), hazardous materials, and waste safety procedures.
Knowledge of Data Privacy Act and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Ability to deal with diverse populations responding with sensitivity to their needs and concerns.
Certified First Responder.
Ability to complete certification in ICS 100, ICS 200, and ICS 700 Incident Command courses within 6 months.
Requires a Class D Driver’s License: a single unit vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of less than 26,000 pounds. This is a basic driver’s license. Operators may also tow vehicles/trailers as long as the gross combination weight does not exceed 26,000 pounds.
Incumbent must pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) license check.

Job Description
This position is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation and ongoing improvement of the security and emergency preparedness and management plans, procedures, and providing support for departmental personnel to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for students and the campus communities. Effective collaboration with local public safety agencies and first responders, compliance with the Clery Act and Homeland Security requirements and compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. This includes compliance, inspection, reporting, training, preparedness planning, and related exercises. This position acts as a liaison with local public safety agencies and first responders.
Salary Range:
$27.84-40.82 hourly / $58,130-85,232 annually
