      Summary Function:

      To support the administration and enforcement of safety policies and procedures, specifically in the Melt Shop, Closed Die Forge Shop, and support shops. This position will be based out of the Company’s Burnham, PA office, with limited travel expectation (

      Responsibilities:

      • Reports directly to the Safety Director. Responsible for reporting on improvements and challenges in the Melt Shop and CDFS.
      • Serve as the resource in all incident investigations in the “North” area. Make suggestions and give input where necessary.
      • Serves as the contact person for all Team Members in assigned Shops and conducts frequent walk-throughs to address Team Members’ safety concerns. Responsible for communicating back to Team Members after safety issues are addressed and considered closed.
      • Work closely with Shop Management to ensure corrective actions are taken and continually followed.
      • Conduct field inspections of equipment to ensure it is in safe working condition.
      • Utilize a computer to make audit reports and maintain a training database.
      • Assist with the development of Safe Working Procedures and field audits to ensure they are being performed as written.
      • Maintain the safety bulletin board and info board for assigned Shops.
      • Assist with New Hire Safety Training and other various trainings.
      • Lead by example and follow all Standard Steel and Regulatory Policies, including taking immediate action when an unsafe condition or behavior is identified.
      • Coach Team Members when they are not adhering to Standard Steel Safety Policies.
      • Collaborate with the Maintenance and Engineering Departments to correct unsafe conditions or improve working conditions.
      • Assist with environmental requirements as needed.
      • Perform other duties as required.

      Education and Experience:

      • Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Safety, Safety Sciences, Occupational Safety and Health, or a related field OR 5 years of proven relevant experience and a good history of following all applicable safety policies.
      • Two years' experience in a Manufacturing Environment preferred.
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
      • Excellent interpersonal skills.
      • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
      • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Power Point.
