DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to analyze and coordinate activities and reporting related to hospital safety in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, the Joint Commission (TJC) and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS) requirements, and Oregon State Hospital (OSH) policy. This position is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of OSH staff, patients, and visitors by evaluating safety program effectiveness and compliance, Risk Assessments to include but not limited to Environmental Suicide Risk Assessments, Product Risk Assessments, safety rounds and fire life safety inspections. Communicating recommendations to hospital leadership to improve safety policies through committee involvement.
This posting is for a Lateral Transfer Opportunity for Oregon State Hospital (OSH) employees who are currently in the SS2 classification OR at Salary Range 27 and meet the Minimum Qualifications of the class.
Program : Oregon State Hospital, Safety Department
Shift : Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (subject to change).
Days Off : Saturday/Sunday

You must be currently employed by the Oregon State Hospital in the SS2 classification.
OR
You must be currently employed by the Oregon State Hospital in a classification at Salary Range 27 and meet the following Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in safety, industrial hygiene, or related field; and two years of experience in Workers' Compensation insurance loss prevention or as an occupational health and safety representative in an industrial, manufacturing, government, utilities, institutional, or agricultural setting
OR
Five years of experience in Occupational Health and Safety consultation work in an industrial, manufacturing, government, utilities, institutional, or agricultural setting or in Workers' Compensation insurance loss prevention.Please note : Employees who have had a lateral transfer in their current classification within nine (9) months prior to the vacancy announcement closing date are not eligible for lateral transfer. In addition, employees having a record of disciplinary action (Letter or Reprimand or more severe) within six (6) months prior to the vacancy announcement closing date are not eligible for transfer.

Selection Process:
OSH Employees eligible for lateral transfer who are in the same Classification and Program as the vacancy posting will be offered the position in seniority order, based on seniority date in class.
OSH Employees eligible for lateral transfer who are not in the same Program and/or Classification as the vacancy posting but are at the same salary range as (and meet the minimum qualifications for) the posted position, will be offered an interview for the position if there are no seniority-based applicants or if all seniority-based applicants decline the position.
