      Overview

      The Safety Specialist will assist the Director of Security in the administration of an effective, professional safety program which will provide a safe and secure environment for Guests and Team Members. The Safety Specialist will work with other members of the Security Department to develop and maintain a safety program which enhances safety procedures, awareness, and training for the prevention of guest and team member injuries. Develop and maintain an effective safety program covering all areas of OSHA compliance in training, recordkeeping and prevention. Responsibilities must be performed in accordance with all Company standards, policies, and procedures.

      Essential Functions

      • Practice, support, and promote Thunder Valley Casino Resort’s “ELITE” company-wide service mission and demonstrate AAA Four Diamond service standards at all times.
      • Work directly with other members of the Security Department to conduct accident investigations, identify hazardous situations, and determine possible remedies.
      • Manage all aspects of OSHA training programs, including reporting and recordkeeping.
      • Initiate Safety training and maintain reports and files.
      • Coordinate Safety functions with other departments and agencies.
      • Conduct property OSHA type inspections regularly as needed or directed.
      • Type reports, correspondence, inter-office emails and statistical data as necessary.
      • Provide and create a Guest experience that exceeds Guest expectations and builds loyalty.
      • Practice teamwork and support fellow Team Members to create an energized, positive work atmosphere.
      • Must maintain a professional appearance at all times.
      • Must display friendly, courteous, and polite behavior to internal and external guests at all times.
      • Give full attention to Guest opportunities and take ownership of these opportunities to ensure Guest satisfaction.
      • Support other functions of the Security department as needed.

      Minimum Qualifications

      • Three (3) years of safety-related experience highly preferred.
      • Completion of an accredited 30 Hour OSHA General Industries Course highly preferred.
      • High School education or equivalent preferred.
      • Must have knowledge of all Federal and Cal-OSHA programs to establish a safe work environment.
      • Must have working knowledge of accident investigations, Guest liability claims, and worker’s compensation claims as they pertain to unsafe practices or conditions.
      • Must have basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
      • Ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members, and Management in both written and verbal form.
      • Must have a valid CA driver’s license.
      • Must be at least 21 years of age.
      • Must be able to obtain UAIC Tribal Gaming License.

      Physical Requirements:

      • Requires normal, corrective vision range, the ability to see color and the ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.
      • Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged time periods.
      • Manual dexterity to operate job related equipment.
      • Must be able to access all areas of the property which may include prolonged standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, bending, lifting, climbing, grasping, and reaching.
