- Educate and involve team members in safety requirements, laws, activities, problem-solving, and proactive measures to create engaged safety mindset and workplace.
- Create open communication and safety awareness throughout organization
- Minimize safety risk to greatest extent possible using hierarchy of safety controls and proactive assessments in every step of manufacturing processes.
- Ensure documentation, policies and procedures align with strong safety culture and all legal requirements
- Safety Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations, including OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and correct potential hazards.
- Safety Investigations:
- Investigate and report findings for safety accidents, incidents, and near-misses, using root cause analysis methods and verification of countermeasures.
- Use data to identify safety trends and propose proactive measures to prevent future recurrence
- Safety Training:
- Provide safety training to team members, including new team members, new processes, powered industrial trucks, and ongoing refresher courses.
- Develop and maintain safety training materials, resources, and documentation.
- Hazard Identification and Mitigation:
- Identify potential safety hazards in the manufacturing processes and work areas, using safety risk assessment and other evaluation tools.
- Develop and implement corrective actions and preventive measures to eliminate or reduce risks, using hierarchy of safety controls.
- Emergency Response Planning:
- Develop emergency response plans and conduct drills to prepare employees for potential emergencies such as fires, chemical spills, or natural disasters.
- Safety Communication:
- Promote a culture of safety through effective communication and awareness campaigns.
- Maintain safety posters, signage, and communication boards throughout the facility.
- Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, training, and compliance documentation.
- Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies as necessary.
- Safety Committee Participation:
- Participate in safety committee meetings and collaborate with employees and management to address safety concerns and implement improvements.
- Collaboratively lead a cross-functional team that includes all levels in organization to conduct incident investigations and corrective actions.
- Influence accountability for all team members to follow safety rules and regulations.
- Influence leaders to create safety processes and practices that create ownership in safety culture.
- Communication: Ability write and speak with influence, listen attentively, and foster open communication, deliver presentations
- Collaboration: Cultivate strong relationships with people across the business, maintain positive relationships, foster teamwork across departments
- Initiative: Drive for results, maintain high productivity, remove barriers, create action plans for future, initiate improvements
- Customer Focus: Deliver customer needs, build customer confidence
- Problem Solving/Analysis: Ability to analyze and collect data, understand underlying issues, recommend and communicate solutions
- Decision-Making: Ability to make timely decisions based on available data; good judgment
- Project management
- Bachelor’s Degree in EHS or related field
- Minimum of 1-2 years of safety responsibilities experience
- Knowledge of OSHA and state-related safety requirements
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Experience in manufacturing industry
- Minimum of 3-5 years of safety responsibilities
- ISO awareness
- This is a full-time, exempt position that works primarily Monday-Friday, supporting all shifts as needed.
- This job operates in a professional office environment and/or manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Frequently the work environment may be loud, requiring hearing protection.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Occasional overnight regional and international travel required.
