Job summary
Stanton Surgery is currently looking to recruit a new salaried GP. We are a rural dispensing and training practice located in the village of Stanton, set in the beautiful Suffolk countryside close to Bury St Edmunds. We serve a stable population of approximately 5,100 patients.
Main duties of the job
We offer flexible working of 4-6 sessions and 15 minute appointment duration. We welcome GPs with particular areas of interest or postgraduate qualifications. We have a low home visiting rate shared with all doctors and UCPs.
About us
We are a two partner GMS practice, and work alongside two Urgent Care Practitioners. Our partners have worked here for 19 and 15 years, with one set to retire in the Autumn of 2025. We are an approved GP training practice and currently have two GP trainees working alongside us, and in the future we aim to host nursing students also.
We offer traditional general practice and we will be very supportive towards developing personal interests. We currently offer Diabetes care, LARC and minor surgery as additional personal interests.
We have a team of three nurses, and work closely with our PCN colleagues who visit the surgery weekly, such as a social prescriber, mental health link worker, mental health practitioner and physiotherapist. We are part of Blackbourne PCN which consists of four rural practices. A diabetes specialist nurse also visits monthly and holds a clinic at the practice.
Our reception and admin teams provide excellent support to our clinical teams. Our clinical system is SystmOne.
We have a low home visiting rate shared with all doctors and UCPs.
We have modern purpose built premises, which have recently been extended and provide a bright and airy setting in which to work.
We are forward thinking, and always looking for new ways to do things to ensure we provide the best possible care for our patients. Recently we installed a dispensing robot with a 24-hour medication collection point.

About the company
National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
