Job summary
Westmoreland GP Centre are looking for a part time 6 session per week GP to join their team as maternity leave cover with a view to a permanent role following the 12month period.
The Salaried GP will play a key role in delivering high-quality, holistic primary care to patients in accordance with the General Medical Services (GMS) contract. Reporting to the GP Partners, the post-holder will manage a range of clinical responsibilities including patient consultations, home visits, clinical documentation, and prescribing, while contributing to health promotion and the effective operation of the practice. The role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, adherence to clinical protocols and governance requirements, and active participation in quality improvement, clinical audits, and professional development activities. The GP will support the practices commitment to excellence in patient care, administrative efficiency, and team-based healthcare delivery.

Work in accordance with the Practice rota system in place.
Collect, record and maintain patient information, such as medical history, reports and examination results. Information is recorded on the practices clinical system (EMIS Web).
Promote health education in conjunction with other health care professionals and have an awareness of the local health and social issues.
Complete all allocated and self-generated clinical administration.
Carry out clinical audits as appropriate.
Completion of reports for solicitors, insurance companies and other third parties as required.
Act in a way that protects the confidentiality of patients and maintains the integrity of the patient/Practice relationship. This includes compliance with the Practices Confidentiality Policy and Caldicot guidance.
Recognise the importance of effective communication within the team and communicate effectively with team members, patients, their carers and other colleagues and health care professionals.
Take an active role and contribute to Practice meetings where appropriate.
Support the compliance of the Practice Health and Safety policy. Work safely at all times in accordance with legislative and practice policies and procedures.
Participate in the GP revalidation and appraisal scheme. Maintain portfolio of continuing professional development activities.
Maintain medical knowledge and skill level in line with your Personal Development Plan and for the safe delivery of clinical care within the Practice.
Keep up to date with medical developments, medication and treatments.
Attend Practice training sessions as appropriate and required.
Work safely at all times in accordance with Legislative requirements and Practice Policy and Procedures.
