- Operates and loads oven, removes meals after testing with thermometer to insure proper heating
- Distributes meals to students; prepares serving line with meal components; ensures students retrieve all needed components for federally reimbursable meals; counts and records meals served
- Coordinates activities of student helpers and Food Service Helpers
- Counts meals and checks for quality and sanitation of meals and equipment
- Checks quality and quantity of food served in accordance with established procedures
- Monitors and insures that the Federal school meal patterns are met
- Cleans and sanitizes work area, serving area, utensils, and equipment
- Inventories and orders supplies; keeps kitchen and storage areas in neat and orderly condition
- Maintains an emergency meal inventory
- Consults with professional and administrative staff concerning special needs and problems
- Counts and verifies lunch and breakfast receipts, computes necessary figures, and completes daily report; prepares routine weekly, monthly, and ad hoc food service reports and forwards to designated offices
- Counts and verifies weekly receipts, updates weekly and monthly reports; completes necessary figures, forwards necessary reports to designated offices
- Records free, reduced, and paid meals served and compares with allowable attendance factor on the daily report and substantiates any numbers that fall outside the variance range
- Reviews lunch applications to insure proper completion by parents or guardians; copies and mails application to Food Service Production Center;
- Calculates status and enters codes on classroom teacher lists;
- Records amounts and sends correspondence to parents for lunches of students who have not paid;
- Monitors to insure that students requiring special diets receive meals that accommodate their requirements;
- Completes comment/complaint forms regarding quality or condition of food products and forwards the complaint to the Food Service Production Center.
- One (1) year of food service or food preparation experience
- Possession of a valid Level I State of Ohio Food Protection Certification upon completion of the probationary period
- Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required for some positions.

Under direction, is responsible for heating and serving prepackaged meals to students and for maintaining records and the controlling of funds necessary to account for the Satellite Meal Program; performs related tasks as required.
Provisional Appointment
Some appointments will serve as a SATELLITE KITCHEN OPERATOR - FLOATER. The Floater position requires travel within the school district and reliable transportation.
***Currently there is not an active tested eligible list for this classification, therefore, this position will be filled on a PROVISIONAL basis. At such time an examination is given for this position, within two years of hire, the preferred candidate serving in the position provisionally will be required to take the examination. The preferred candidate at that time must pass the exam to continue employment in this position. ***
