      Job summary

      We are looking for a dedicated and friendly receptionist to join our wonderful team to support providing Extended Hours on Saturdays between 9 am - 5 pm. In this role, you will handle patient queries, carry out administrative duties such as registrations, emails and support the clinical team using EMIS WEB clinical system. The successful candidate will receive the necessary training prior starting the role officially.

      Main duties of the job

      1. Greet all patients and visitors professionally
      2. Answer incoming calls, diverting them as needed and taking messages.
      3. Handle general enquiries
      4. Use judgment to manage walk-in patients needing urgent help and signpost where needed
      5. Address administrative queries and liaise with clinicians as necessary.
      6. Manage appointments (make, cancel, rearrange) where necessary
      7. Monitor the reception handover book daily and take necessary actions.
      8. Assist clinicians as required and arrange interpreters
      9. Handle samples and arrange for courier collection
      10. Manage requests for medical reports and receipt of fees.
      11. Open and prepare the reception area at the start of the day
      12. Prepare clinical rooms at the beginning and end of the day.
      13. Maintain a tidy workspace and waiting area.
      14. Collaborate as a team and ensure effective handovers at shift end.

      Administration Duties:

        1. Process repeat prescriptions accurately and efficiently.
        2. Sort incoming correspondence for GPs and scan necessary documents.
        3. Monitor and manage the practice email inbox.
        4. Handle referrals and participate in performance-related recalls.
        5. Action tasks set by clinicians in clinical systems and nhs.net email.

        General Duties:

        1. Familiarise with and comply with practice policies.
        2. Cover for holidays and sickness when needed.
        3. Keep the desk tidy at the end of each day.
