      The expected hourly rate for this position is $25.00. This is a good-faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position. The final salary figure will take into account a variety of factors including experience, ability, and location. Covanta is committed to paying its staff equitably, and these ranges should not be considered career salary limits or caps.

      We seek a dedicated individual who will monitor inbound/outbound truck activity, acquire and monitor accurate truck weights, communicate with various departments, keep accurate records of all tickets, manifests, supplies, reconcile transportation and disposal invoices for various Covanta facilities, handle special projects assigned by supervisor and any other related duties. Monitor and record waste volumes that enter the facility. Obtain information regarding material entering transfer station by greeting customers at the gate, visually confirming contents are appropriate for disposal, determine volume by weighing the truck to determine tonnage in order to properly bill the customer and track the total amount of waste entering the facility. Ensuring that incoming garbage loads are safe and do not contain any inappropriate material. Enter truck information into computer system.

      Weigh trucks in and out. Weekly and monthly report preparation. Supporting Facility Accounts Payable Reconciliation process. Providing general upkeep of the Scale House. Approaching all encounters with employees, customers and vendors in a friendly, service-oriented manner, direct customers and other traffic. Working overtime as needed. Accept or reject load based on content and suggest possible alternatives based on personal disposal knowledge, special waste training and type of waste. Provide a receipt for the customer, and document the waste entering the facility by keying information into the computer and producing a ticket for the facility files and for the customer's records. Balance the daily receipts to ensure accurate record keeping and appropriate billing. Answer the telephone and provide information to the general public regarding hours of operation, acceptable types of waste, location and directions to the facility. Ability to perform basic math, including algebra, to measure volumes.

      Ability to learn to distinguish types of waste that may or may not be accepted by the facility.

      Position Requirements:

      To be considered for this position, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and one to three years’ experience with administrative, clerical, and accounting activities.

      Must be flexible to work different shifts (including Saturdays).

      Must be detail oriented with excellent computer skills (word processing and spreadsheets), and solid communication skills.

      Knowledge of PC Scale software, Peoplesoft Accounts Payable are a plus.
