Thurston County Public Works is recruiting for a Scalehouse Operator to join our dynamic, energetic, and innovative team. The successful candidate will assist customers and collect fees at Thurston County Solid Waste facilities located in Lacey, Rainier and Rochester.

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Measures loads of refuse for cubic yardage to determine cost; determines categories for loads.
• Collects fees explaining the rate structure; issues receipts.
• Answers phone calls from public for information on dumping.
• Logs daily and weekly receipt sheet; deposits cash receipts weekly.
• Performs custodial maintenance of facilities daily.

• One year work experience requiring public contact and cashiering duties.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Current Washington State Driver's License.

• Customer service experience;
• Work experience using personal computers and computer software;
• Bookkeeping or accounting experience;
• Experience working as a scale operator;
• Experience working at a solid waste landfill, transfer station, or drop-box facility;
• Demonstrated ability to effectively work with diverse audiences using tact, patience, and courtesy and;
• Demonstrated proficiency in keyboarding and ten-key data entry.
