      Our age 3 u2013 grade 8 students experience challenging academics embedded in a nurturing environment. Our innovative curriculum uses immersive play and project-based learning to engage students, connect them to the community around them, and encourage them to make a positive impact on our ever-changing world.
      The Childrenu2019s School seeks an experienced full-time School Counselor to start July 29, 2025. This is a 10.5-month position, with the half month scheduled along with the Program Teamu2019s meeting schedule prior to the following school year.
      The School Counselor at The Childrenu2019s School (TCS) works collaboratively with faculty and parents to support students from early learning through eighth grade. A team-approach is used to support student social and emotional development and a healthy classroom community. The School Counselor maintains a visible and active presence in the classroom, in addition to 1:1 and small group counseling, parent consultation, and follow-up with other professionals. Serves as a resource and consultant on adolescent mental health for students and faculty. Collaborates with other system of care partners and demonstrates effective liaison relationships with parents, schools, and agencies.
      Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Minimum Qualifications:
      A Masteru2019s degree in school counseling, social work or educational psychology, or a related field, is preferred. Bacheloru2019s degree in a related field is required. A minimum of three (3) years of experience as counselor in a school setting. Independent school experience is a plus. Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, colleagues and families. Preference for working in a collaborative team model. Flexible, energetic, and positive approach to work. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong listening skills.

      • Possess a knowledge of psychology of children and adolescents, human growth and development, and the relationship of counseling to a continuum of experiences in the lives of students and whom they interact.
      • Be well-versed in the development of identity, including race and gender, and be able to recognize, appreciate and serve students with cultural differences and recognize culturally-based family needs.
      • Demonstrate an ability to assist students in developing a sense of awareness and self-worth, and with goal-setting and decision making skills.
      • Have experience in building and documenting character curriculum for students aligned with the mission and philosophy of the school.
      • Possess exemplary counseling skills, using a broad and diverse set of resources and approaches to assist students and parents.
      • Demonstrate advocacy foru00A0 the educational and social-emotional concerns of students to a variety of individuals and groups.
      • Demonstrate appropriate ethical behavior and professional conduct in fulfillment of roles and responsibilities.
