- Counselors shall be directly responsible to the principal(s) of his/her school(s);
- The counselor’s role is to facilitate the academic, career, and personal/social development of the students under his/her assignment;
- The counselor shall implement system-wide counselor programs;
- The counselor provides the following services to students, parents, administration and faculty:
- Interpretation of school achievement information;
- Coordination and use of community resources;

The Akron Board of Education announces an opening for a School Counselor at the National Inventors Hall of Fame School Center for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Learning, Job Code 054, Time Schedule 401, Salary Range TBD, Collective Bargaining Unit – AEA. This is a State Teachers Retirement System position.

School Description: This Akron Public middle school, grades 5-8, is a partnership among the Akron Public Schools, the City of Akron, the University of Akron, the National Inventors Hall of Fame Foundation, Greater Akron Chamber and Akron Tomorrow. The vision of the school is to provide the highest quality educational experience for students of all abilities that ensure creativity and inventive thinking through a focus on science, math, engineering and technology. A curriculum that incorporates the expertise of content specialists and the diversity of partner resources which, in combination with innovative teaching and learning practices, delivered in a challenging, supportive environment creates the conditions for student success. The school is a professional development site for The University of Akron College of Education, undergraduate and graduate programs. Partners’ staff members will have ongoing presence in the classrooms and building.
