Developed by a coalition of San Diego civic leaders and educators, High Tech High opened in September 2000 as a small public charter school with plans to serve approximately 450 students. HTH has evolved into an integrated network of sixteen charter schools serving approximately 6,350 students in grades K-12 across four campuses.

HTH is seeking a part-time School Lunch Assistant (SLA) to join the High Tech High School Lunch Program Team. This is an in-person opportunity and cannot be done virtually.
JOB SUMMARY
The School Lunch Assistant will be responsible for serving lunch to our students at one of our school sites. The School Lunch Assistant works directly under the supervision of the Food & Nutrition Services Manager.
Duties include:
● Set up drive-through meal service operation at the respective site
● Provide meals to families at HTH drive-through service
● Deliver meals to families at home as needed
● Heat and serve prepared food as part of the Hot Lunch Program
● Take meal counts at point of service, conduct a monthly edit of meal counts, and submit reports to Food & Nutrition Services Manager
● Manage cash and check deposits for the School Lunch Program and ensure all monies received are handled in a manner to prevent loss
● Assist in the monitoring and review of lunch program procedures in order to maintain compliance with the National School Lunch Program guidelines
● Determine production quantities, complete daily production reports, and maintain records to report to the National School Lunch Program
● Follow safe and sanitary food handling procedures at all times
● Ensure that foodservice equipment is maintained to meet the needs of the operation
● Ensure daily maintenance and cleanliness of serving area and equipment
● Monitor safety policies and procedures
● Ensure proper sanitation and disposal of food products
● Supervise students to ensure that procedures for maintaining high standards of sanitation and hygiene in the storage, preparation, and service of food are followed.
● Perform other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate would possess the following competencies:
● Communication, both written and oral
● Maintain a positive, professional demeanor, excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in teams and independently
● Ability to complete and submit reports
● Ability to maintain inventory
● Organization and multitasking skills
● Ability to follow protocols, safety measures, and health & sanitation standards
● Physical Abilities: Sitting or standing for extended periods of time, lifting up to 50 lbs on a regular basis. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate POS computer programming equipment, hot and cold food items. Leaning and bending abilities to clean equipment and lift all food items into proper health safety areas.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
● A minimum of a high school diploma preferred, or one year of relevant work experience
● Experience in clerical functions/work
● Experience in a school/learning environment preferred
SALARY & BENEFITS
This is an hourly position starting at $16.85/hour and can work variable hours, 15-20 per week, Monday -Friday. This position does not qualify for benefits.
