Job Description
- Req#: 8682
- Good standard of education to Standard Grade or equivalent plus typically 2 years’ relevant experience.
- Good IT Skills using MS Office, in particular Outlook, Teams and Word.
- Ability to use initiative when problem solving and when demonstrating excellent customer service
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in HR administration role, or a job with a staffing-related element would be an advantage
- Experience of University of Edinburgh systems in a higher education environment would be an advantage.

College of Science and Engineering, School of Physics and Astronomy
Open-ended contract, full-time (35 hours per week, however, part time, upwards of 21 hours per week will also be considered)
We are looking for a School Operations Assistant to join our friendly Staffing and Events Team, supporting a diverse and inclusive staff and student population. You will assist with general administrative, secretarial and events support for the School of Physics & Astronomy which includes activities related to all aspects of office management. No two days are the same in our busy team and you will enjoy a variety of tasks, interacting with a wide range of people and systems.
This post is advertised as full-time (35 hours per week), however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.
Based in the James Clerk Maxwell Building on the leafy green King’s Buildings campus with views to the south of the city, we offer on- site parking, a number of catering outlets and an on-site shop for convenience.
