The School Counselor -School Attendance & Supports is a child advocate who utilizes a three-tiered model (prevention, early intervention, and intensive intervention) to improve individual and system-wide student attendance, engagement, achievement and graduation. You will work directly with students who experience difficulties in achieving their academic potential due to social/emotional, home and community barriers.

Your day will include:
- Monitor student attendance, engagement and academic progress to support early identification and intervention with at-risk students.
- Regularly review and assess data and trends related to student enrollment, attendance, behavior support, adjustment, academic achievement and progress toward graduation.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators other team members to address individual student attendance issues.
- Provide evidence-based child welfare and attendance services, including advocacy and clinical case management to identified, at-risk students to facilitate student engagement, attendance, academic achievement, improve social adjustment and school stability.
- Create and facilitate campus activities including monthly Attendance/Character program and others to encourage attendance and positive school atmosphere.
- Consults with parents to develop collaborative strategies across home and school to provide consistency with planned interventions.
WHAT THE HELP GROUP IS LOOKING FOR:
- Master's or advanced degree in counseling, social work, psychology, educational psychology, education or another related field.
- One year of experience in applied social work, school counseling, school psychology or related experience.
- A California Pupil Personnel Services Credential and/or a license in social work or other mental health field is preferred.
- Knowledge of the California Codes (Education, Welfare and Institutions, Labor, Penal, etc.) and District policies and procedures related to the welfare and attendance of students preferred.
- Prior success in leading and facilitating group processes, including consensus building, mediation and conflict resolution.
Yearly Salary - $ 75,000.00
