- Degree in Social Work
- Master (or higher) degree in Social Work, preferred
- Eligible for certification in School Social Work
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in a Social Work setting, preferred
- School Social Work experience, preferred
- Provide social services to schools and the school system
- Visit schools to work with staff to present social services and procedures.
- Follow referral procedure for routine problems of non-attendance, school failure, abuse/neglect, health problems, economic concerns, and personality or behavioral concerns.
- Assist in establishing procedures for emergencies/crises.
- Develop intervention strategies utilizing school, community, and family resources to address student problems.
- Visit homes, counsel with families, and act as liaison between school and parents
- Prepare and maintain reports regarding services rendered.
- Develop activities to address problem areas
- Participate in activities to improve student attendance.
- Work with parents and school staff to initiate referrals for services as warranted.
- Assist the Student and Family Support Director
- Assist in monitoring student attendance, discipline, hospital homebound, homeless, and other records.
- Coordinate with other agencies
- Coordinate with other agency personnel to provide intervention and services for students and families.
- Serve on appropriate advisory committees and boards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

PRIMARY FUNCTION : Assist students, families, and school/school system personnel to overcome barriers that interfere with learning through assessment, crisis intervention, and coordination of community services.
