      The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County was the first museum in L.A. to open its doors 109 years ago and is poised for an exciting new era as it plans for the future. Having recently completed a new strategic framework, the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County—including NHMLA at Exposition Park, La Brea Tar Pits and museum in mid-Wilshire, and the William S.       The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is seeking a Science Illustration Intern, Malacology for our R&C Malacology department. The Science Illustration Intern, Malacology works closely with the Associate Curator, Malacology to determine what specimens and resources can and should be used to create scientific illustrations at the Natural History Museum. It is an exciting time as we embark on new journeys of becoming a museum of, for, and with L.A.

      Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

      • Create a guide to species identification of Southern California snails, to be made into a poster and/or one sheet guide
      • Work with the Curator to determine how scientific illustrations may be incorporated into developing projects as illustrations to be published
      • Discuss this career choice and training with Museum interns
      • Other duties as assigned by the MANAGER and as department needs.
      This position has the following requirements:
      • Have completed or be enrolled in a Scientific Illustration training program at an accredited college, university, or institute.
      • 6 months–I year of training/schooling in a Scientific Illustration required
