      The DeKosky Laboratory for Immune Engineering (www.dekoskylab.org) is hiring a new Science Writer to coordinate the preparation and submission of research reports and funding proposals. Responsibilities for this position will include the drafting and implementation of research grants and contracts, and the drafting and submission of publications related to this research. The hired candidate will also participate in the preparation of written plans of experiments related to the study and development of new immune-based medicines and studies in immunology. Depending on skills, abilities, and interests, the hired candidate may also perform project management or project organization for scientific projects around the laboratory.


      The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the written communication of scientific concepts. A high level of performance is expected while working on several independent tasks and deadlines concurrently.

      Preferred qualifications include an M.S. or Ph.D. with at least 1 years of experience at the time of appointment in immunology, virology, biochemistry, biotechnology, bioinformatics, microbiology, or a related field.

      Preferred experience also in molecular immunology, antibody discovery, T cell receptor discovery, or cancer immune drug discovery.


      Job Summary

      Responsible for communicating complex scientific information to diverse audiences in a clear and engaging manner in order to bridge the gap between researchers and the public, conveying the significance and impact of clinical research findings through various written materials.

      Essential Functions:
      -Create clear and concise scientific articles, research papers, funding proposals, and manuscripts that highlight the findings and implications of research studies.
      -Work together with researchers to prepare their data for submission to funding entities and peer-reviewed journals.
      -Adapt technical information into accessible content suitable for different audiences, including research communities and funding organizations.
      -Collaborate with researchers and clinicians to communicate their findings accurately and effectively.
      -Manage and maintain content on the group's website, ensuring accuracy and up-to-date information.


      Qualifications

      Education:
      Bachelor's Degree Biology required or Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required or Master's Degree Related Field of Study preferred

      Experience:
      Science Writing/Healthcare Communications Experience 1-2 years required

      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
      - Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to various audiences effectively.
      - Strong understanding of clinical research methodologies and the ability to interpret and translate research data.
      - Familiarity with medical terminology and the ability to grasp and explain medical concepts accurately.
      - Excellent project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple writing assignments concurrently.
      - Collaboration and teamwork skills to work with researchers, media relations, and communication teams.
