- Assist with analyzing biological and clinical datasets using bioinformatics tools and statistical methods.
- Assist in designing and executing scientific studies related to genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and other omics fields.
- Aid in interpreting results, generate insights, and contribute to presentations and publications.
- Validate and benchmark analytical pipelines and methodologies.
- Support the development, testing, and maintenance of bioinformatics software and pipelines.
- Assist in the Implementation of algorithms and computational methods for data processing and analysis.
- Collaborate with PI to optimize performance and usability of analytical tools.
- Document workflows, software applications, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including biologists, clinicians, and data scientists.
- Assist in preparing reports, manuscripts, and grant proposals.
- Present findings and software functionalities in meetings, conferences, and workshops.
- Good communication skills for presenting data and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
- Ability to learn and adopt new technologies in bioinformatics.
- Knowledge of high-performance computing (HPC) and cloud computing environments.
- Basic knowledge of molecular biology concepts (e.g., gene expression, protein function).
- Ability to conduct research independently and within a team.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Effective communication, organization and documentation skills.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
- 1 year of relevant work experience required.
- Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience with bioinformatics tools and software (e.g., BLAST, Bioconductor, Galaxy).
- Experience in data visualization tools (e.g., ggplot2, Matplotlib) for generating insights from biological data.
- Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems for bioinformatics pipelines and data processing.
- Experience in programming languages such as Python, R, or Perl for data analysis and scripting.

Our lab is focused on understanding the interplay of different RNA species and underlying functional networks in the heart with the goal of developing methods for the early diagnosis of heart disease as well as novel treatment options by employing state-of-the-art computational approaches.
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in software development, sequencing data processing and/or transcriptomics. The individual will develop novel software to analyze large and complex biomedical data sets and contribute towards research and research-related service in translational cardiovascular research. The Scientific Analyst I will benefit from the interaction with the diverse and interdisciplinary environment at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix.
