Here at AstraZeneca, you’ll have the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives every day. As one of the world’s premier pharmaceutical companies, our mission is centered on delivering life-changing products that advance world health and help fight and cure disease. As a Scientist in the monoclonal antibodies and in vivo expressed antibodies group in early V&I (eV&I) in Gaithersburg, MD, you’ll play a pivotal role in channeling scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients’ lives.

      Accountabilities:

You will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing in vitro and in vivo experiments to characterize and validate nucleic acid platform to express in vivo functional monoclonal antibodies.

      Essential Skills/Experience:

A successful candidate will be a well-grounded critical thinker who can design assays and implement complex mouse studies to measure functional activity of monoclonal antibodies expressed in vivo through nucleic acid delivery platforms. There is some flexibility in technical expertise for this position, but relevant experience is necessary in at least a few of the following areas:

      • Education: A Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree with 4 years of equivalent experience in assay development, bacteriology, cell biology, and in vivo work.

      • Broad and strong experience with relevant cellular and antibody-based immunological techniques to understand functional expression in vivo of monoclonal antibodies through nucleic acid delivery (pharmacokinetic ELISA in animal sera, cell based cytotoxic neutralizing assay and bactericidal assays such as serum bactericidal or opsonophagocytic killing assays) is required.

      • Hands on expertise with in vitro based assays to quantify pro-inflammatory mediators in animals (ELISA, Luminex and MSD platforms, cell-based assays)

      Desirable Skills/Experience:

      • Broad experience in animal procedures (intraperitoneal, intranasal, intramuscular injections)

      • Experience in mouse in vivo imaging is a plus.

When we put unexpected teams in the same room, we unleash bold thinking with the power to inspire life-changing medicines. In-person working gives us the platform we need to connect, work at pace and challenge perceptions. That’s why we work, on average, a minimum of three days per week from the office. But that doesn't mean we’re not flexible. We balance the expectation of being in the office while respecting individual flexibility. Join us in our unique and ambitious world.

We are a changemaker on the world stage at an exciting frontier of medicine. This is backed by deep knowledge and experience in our field. We aim to provide long-lasting immunity to millions of people. Directly impact the lives of populations around the world, by turning our ambition to prevent disease into a reality. Here people always come first. We are making the changes that are needed to make access to medicines resilient and sustainable.
