Responsible for your own activity from concept to realization of a product mechanical design; Contribute to the work breakdown, plan and track your activities
Contribute to technology scouting in your mechanical expertise
Convert customer specification into concepts and detailed design
Affinity with brainstorming methods, concept creation methods, design evaluation methods (e.g. FMEA), design for assembly, design for manufacturability (e.g. Plastics, die cast, sheet metals), design for (dis)-assembly, automatization
Knowledge of design principles and structural analysis of static or dynamic systems
Identify and consider new production methods, e.g. 3D printing, production 4.0
Design with CAD, simulate and dimension mechanical design. Tools: NX, Solidworks, ANSYS, Python
Determine manufacturing choices, estimate cost price, assess quality at an early stage of development
Master’s degree in Mechanical design & engineering
Result driven, high-quality standards, flexible, pragmatic and entrepreneurial behavior
Have a systematic and systemic approach
Hands-on (for characterization tasks or demo building)

We’re looking for a Scientist - Mechanical engineering to join our Research Lighting sector within the Lighting Products' Architecting & Engineering team in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
As a Scientist Mechanical engineering you’ll be responsible for the mechanical design of LED-based solutions for different application areas such as indoor, outdoor, industry, disinfection, etc. You will be involved in the entire design process in our research organisation. This includes: concept generation, mechanical design, CAD, prototyping, and release for engineering. You will work in multi-disciplinary teams (Project Manager, Architect, Optical, Thermal, Mechanical, Electronics, Reliability, Quality and Procurement) in explorative or architecture and platform creation projects. The job function has a strong emphasis on the mechanical design of LED based products.
