      Several positions are available. Depending on certifications may be hired as a Lifeguard or Instructor/Lifeguard.

      The water skills will be the pre-requisite for the lifeguarding class if the applicant isn’t certified. Applicants may be asked to complete the water skills as part of the interview process. Applicants must pass a pre-course swimming skills test prior to taking lifeguarding courses.

      The water skills test consists of the following:
      • 300-yard swim using front crawl or breaststroke
      • Two-minute tread using legs only
      • The ability to retrieve a 10-lb dive weight from 7 ft. deep, surface and swim 20 yds. with the weight using legs only and exit the pool without using a ladder within 100 seconds
      These seasonal positions will work up to 40 hours per week and will be located at one of the two Seasonal Facilities – Seven Springs Water Park or Sewell Park Pool.

      SALARY
      • Lifeguard: $17.00 per hour
      • Lifeguard/Instructor: $17.51 per hour
      • Seasonal Supervisors: $18.50 per hour
      • Seasonal Attendants: $17.00 per hour
      • Seasonal Pool Manager: $19.00 per hour
      The first date of employment will begin on 04/04/2024 and continue throughout the upcoming weeks. Seasonal Lifeguard
      Ensures compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures: ensures adherence to established safety procedures; monitors work environment and use of safety equipment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals.

      Observes and oversees the activities of swimmers: scans the water; enforces pool rules; maintains discipline at facility; takes preventive safety actions; rescues distressed swimmers; provides emergency first aid and CPR; and performs other emergency lifesaving services as needed.

      Maintains swimming pool and facility: assists with opening pool facility: cleans restrooms, locker rooms, walkways, pool deck, and pool furniture; stocks paper goods; and maintains related documentation.

      Performs customer service functions: provides information and answers questions regarding pool policies, procedures, programs, fees and other issues; responds to questions and complaints; and initiates problem resolution.

      Performs other related duties as assigned.

      Seasonal Lifeguard/Instructor
      Ensures compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures: ensures adherence to established safety procedures; monitors work environment and use of safety equipment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals.

      Observes and oversees the activities of swimmers: scans the water; enforces pool rules; maintains discipline at facility; takes preventive safety actions; rescues distressed swimmers; provides emergency first aid and CPR; and performs other emergency life saving services as needed.

      Maintains swimming pool and facility: assists with opening pool facility: cleans restrooms, locker rooms, walkways, pool deck, and pool furniture; stocks paper goods; and maintains related documentation.

      Performs customer service functions: provides information and answers questions regarding pool policies, procedures, programs, fees and other issues; responds to questions and complaints; and initiates problem resolution.

      Performs other related duties as assigned.

      Seasonal Supervisors
      Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.

      Coordinates daily work activities: organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; creates and distributes staff schedules; ensures adequate staffing for programs and events; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; consults with assigned staff; assists with complex/problem situations; provides technical expertise; and trains staff in operational policies and procedures.

      Ensures compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures: ensures adherence to established safety procedures; monitors work environment and use of safety equipment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals.

      Supervises the instruction of and instructs swimming lessons: prepares lesson plans; registers program participants; takes attendance; teaches and demonstrates a variety of skills, such as floating, kicking, stroke techniques and water safety; tests participants; makes recommendations for future classes and skill development; monitors the safety of participants during classes.

      Supervises the instruction of water exercise classes including arthritis and aerobics: registers program participants; and monitors the safety of participants during classes. Supervises the observation of and observes and oversees the activities of swimmers: scans the water; enforces pool rules; maintains discipline at facility; takes preventive safety actions; performs and completes safety checks; rescues distressed swimmers; provides emergency first aid and CPR; and performs other emergency life-saving services as needed.

      Performs customer service functions: provides information and answers questions regarding pool policies, procedures, programs, fees and other issues; responds to questions and complaints; and initiates problem resolution.

      Maintains swimming pool and facility: monitors, regulates, and records pool chemical levels; monitors and regulates temperature of pool water; vacuums and skims pool; cleans deck areas, restrooms, locker rooms, walkways, and pool furniture; stocks paper goods; and maintains related documentation.

      Performs other related duties as assigned.

      Seasonal Attendants
      The purpose of this classification is to assist guests, monitor the activity and use of facilities, and work the front counter at Seven Springs Water Park.

      Performs customer service functions: provides information or assistance regarding services, activities on the phone and in person, forms, procedures, fees, or other issues; responds to routine questions and complaints; researches problems and initiates problem resolution; and refers complaints/problems to appropriate personnel.

      Processes participant registrations, daily transactions, pass registrations, and rentals: reviews registration forms for accuracy and completeness; enters information into online database and calendars; collects and records fees; and maintains related documentation.

      Prepares facilities according to daily schedule: opens and closes facility; unlocks and locks doors; turns lights on or off; disarms and sets alarm; moves, sets up, and tears down tables, chairs, etc.; and performs routine cleaning duties such as emptying trash, sweeping floors, hosing decks and locker rooms, etc.

      Maintains attendance and punctuality within customary tolerances for this position.

      Performs other related duties as assigned.

      Seasonal Pool Manager
      Oversees staff training and In-Service training for rescue skills and Customer service skills. Completes daily financial reports and bank deposits.

      Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

      • Must be age 15 or older.
      • Must be able to pass a water/skills test.
      • Must pass a criminal background check if 17 and older.
      • Must pass a credit check if 18 and older.
      Seasonal Lifeguard/Instructor:
      • Must be age 16 or older.
      • Must be able to pass a water/skills test.
      • Must pass a criminal background check if 17 and older.
      • Must pass a credit check if 18 and older.
      Seasonal Attendants:
      • Must be age 15 or older
      • Criminal background check if 17 and older.
      • Must pass a credit check if 18 and older.
      Seasonal Supervisor:
      • Must be age 16 or older

      Lifeguard:


      The following nationally-recognized certifications are preferred: Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid. .


      Lifeguard/Instructor:


      The following nationally-recognized certifications are preferred: Lifeguard, Water Safety Instructor, CPR, and First Aid.

      Tasks require the ability to exert moderate, though not constant physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and prolonged standing, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).

      Sensory Requirements

      Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
