- Operates Point of Sales System, calculates costs, receives payments, makes correct change, issues receipts, maintains records, and exercises full control and accountability for assigned cash drawer to include balancing of cash drawer after each shift.
- Takes beverage orders, prepares, and serves specialty beverages, cleans all food and beverage-related areas in accordance with State Health Department standards, and participates in inventory process.
- Monitors vending machine stock and inventory, restocking as needed and directed.
- Maintains high level of customer service and sales techniques. Ensures both internal and external customers’ expectations are exceeded.
- Follows all safety protocols and communicates the safety protocols to guests.
- Maintains a clean, neat personal appearance following uniform guidelines. Conducts self in a professional manner.
- Assists in maintaining the professional appearance of lobby and café areas.
- Works shifts as scheduled. This position may be required to work overtime.
- Fosters good relations with visitors, volunteers, community leaders, contractors, and fellow staff members by promoting positive attitudes, good will, cooperation, and providing high standards of service.
- Complies with all Alaska SeaLife Center policies, procedures, and programs.
- Maintains a valid driver’s license.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Summary:
This position is responsible for independently facilitating sales and production of specialty coffee and other hot beverages using ASLC espresso cart. Barista functions include taking and fulfilling orders in a timely, accurate and friendly manner as well as cleaning, stocking, and maintaining inventory. This position works primarily alone and is eligible to receive tips.
Education/Training Requirements:
Minimum Two to three years’ barista experience preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of customer service and/or barista skills preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be able to obtain a State of Alaska Food Handler’s Card within 30 days of employment.

This is a seasonal, full-time position; ASLC offers a competitive wage (DOE).
