Strategic Enrollment | Graduate and Professional AdmissionsThis is a 9-month seasonal position. The Seasonal Program Specialist in Graduate and Professional Admissions is responsible for assisting with all functions related to the evaluation or referral processes.
Calculates and enters the overall GPA as well as the GPA for each previous university. Determines if the GPA criteria has been met and confirms all transcripts have been received. Evaluates authenticity of transcript documents. Identifies and applies appropriate resources to interpret and evaluate program prerequisites, academic calendars, transfer credit and grading systems. Updates checklists in the Student Information System (SIS) and enters calculated GPA on the evaluation page in SIS. Advises prospective applicants on appropriate courses to fulfill prerequisites. Confirms that all prerequisites are complete. Develops and maintains a thorough understanding of university structure, programs, policies, procedures, and admission requirements. Fosters an understanding of international and domestic educational systems, as well as U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in the Graduate and Professional Admissions evaluation process. Research, interpret, and apply appropriate resources to evaluate degree requirements. Reviews and responds to incoming questions, external (departments) and internal (Outreach/Student), as well as resolves escalated procedural questions. Connects standardized test scores and other materials to applicant records. Applies final transcript requirements to applicant records. Assists with annual update and review of area documentation, which includes the design and development of documentation and job aids. Performs quality control functions. Reviews processes and provides suggestions to manager of possible efficiencies. Willing to cross train in all functions within each area of Graduate and Professional Admissions. Promotes a coordinated and collaborative, teamwork-based environment. Assists in maintaining quality control processes. Works in a production environment and meets or exceeds expected volumes while maintaining quality. Performs other duties as assigned.
Program Specialist will do ad-hoc projects in support of the office or the Associate and the Assistant Director. These projects could be web research, data entry using excel and the database, general office work, updating guides and documentation in support of the unit.
Hours of operation are M-F 7:30am – 6:00pm with a flexible 8-hour workday within the times specified. Employees typically work 40 hours per week but there may be overtime during GP Admission's peak season (between October and February). Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Flexibility to work schedule during peak seasons; knowledge of the Student Information System (SIS) and Microsoft Office products; experience working with graduate programs, understanding of student admissions practices; strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Desired:
Two years office experience and one year data entry experience in a structured office environment preferred
Additional Information:
The pay range for this job profile is $17.74 - $23.63/hour. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
