      Position Title: Seasonal Lightscape Venue Manager

      Department: Public Programming

      Reports to: Director of Public Programming

      FLSA Status: Part-time Seasonal, Non-exempt

      Hours: 11 weeks; 40 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays

      Compensation: $42 per hour


      Schedule: Onboarding: Week of October 21; load-in: November 4–21; event dates: November 21, 2024–January 5, 2025, load-out: January 6–11, 2025

      Position Description:

      Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s (BBG’s) Lightscape venue manager will assist the Public Programming department in overseeing day-to-day operations and site management during our annual winter spectacular. Lightscape is a one-mile trail throughout the Garden that is set with light and sound installations. This lead position will ensure that the event is in line with the requirements of the venue and is the link between the event and the venue.


      Responsibilities:

      • Assist with overseeing load-in and tech set-up. Act as lead liaison between load-in and tech crew and BBG operations team.
      • Serve as liaison between regular daytime Garden operations and evening Lightscape operations, in coordination with Security, Custodial, Visitor Services, Maintenance, retail, and food & beverage services.
      • Work alongside Lightscape event manager and production manager to ensure route is in good condition and address any needs that arise prior to and during event.
      • Attend daily event briefings.
      • Assist with front-of-house operations as needed.
      • Respond to public needs as seen fit during the run of the event.
      • Produce end-of-day reports to relay needs for the following day.
      • Ensure the Garden is returned to daily operations setup at the end of the night.
      • Perform other related duties or special projects as directed.


      Qualifications:

      • Production or event management experience
      • Ability to work gracefully under pressure and remain levelheaded while handling a variety of responsibilities
      • Comfort communicating with the public, BBG members, vendors, production staff, and volunteers
      • Logistical thinker with knowledge of working in outdoor venues or natural settings a plus
      • Superior organizational, technical, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal)
      • Self-motivated and resourceful, with ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
      • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
