  The Seasonal Security Specialist (Level I) plays a vital role in advancing our mission by ensuring a safe and secure environment for guests, employees, animals, property, and assets, all while delivering exceptional guest service at DZCA. As a Level 1 Security Specialist, you will primarily focus on observing and reporting security concerns, ensuring proper access control across the campus, and maintaining a safe and welcoming atmosphere for all.   Candidates must be able to work weekends and holidays as needed. The Security Department has the following shifts available; all shifts require seasonal overtime:

  • First Shift: Varying 8-hour workday between the hours of 7:00 AM-6:00 PM
  • Second Shift: 8-hour workday between the hours of 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM

  Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Enforce access control and check-in procedures for visitors, vendors, and contractors.
  • Utilize CCTV and security systems to monitor campus activity.
  • Report suspicious or unsafe incidents that could threaten guests, staff, animals, or property.
  • Maintain and account for security-related equipment.
  • Produce accurate incident reports.
  • Record patrol activities, daily tasks, lost and found items, work orders, and other relevant data in an electronic logging system, ensuring accurate and organized records.
  • Stay updated on emergency procedures and respond as needed.
  • Assist with snow and ice removal.
  • Provide first aid and support emergency responses.
  • Enhance the guest experience by assisting and engaging with guests professionally.
  • Promote a culture of safety within DZCA.
  • Respond to security-related emergency calls.
  • Provide security coverage at designated posts while supporting other personnel.

  Technical / Professional Requirements & Qualifications

  • At least one year in security, safety, loss prevention, or law enforcement, with a focus on guest service and resolving challenges.
  • Experience in a high-volume, customer-focused environment or non-profit is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with CCTV, access control, or incident reporting systems is a plus.
  • Ability to remain calm and make decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive information.

  Position Conditions

  • To support our security operations, candidates must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a physical examination, background check, and pre-employment drug and alcohol screen.
  • Ability to obtain a Denver Security License.
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Schedule Availability: Ability to work any shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with occasional overtime shifts.
  • Must be able to walk (80 acres) and/or stand up to 8 hours daily in adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, rain, snow, or heat.
  • Required to obtain and maintain certification in Stop the Bleed, First Aid, CPR, and AED (Adult/Child/Infant) within 3 months of hire and maintain throughout employment. (Provided and maintained through the organization).

  Compensation

  The hourly rate for this position is $19.50.

  A pay differential will be paid for Spanish-speaking fluency with verified ability: 5%
