- Provide friendly, professional, and excellent service to all visitors and members.
- Maintain focus and a positive demeanor during the Garden’s busiest and slowest visitation times.
- Oversee daily operations in the Garden’s admissions booths: Manage staff breaks, assist with visitor issues, and alert management of technical or IT issues.
- Assist management team with opening and closing cash registers.
- Maintain brochures and other supplies necessary for daily operations.
- Answer phones and return calls related to Visitor Services.
- Provide support for membership enrollment.
- Assist in providing information and support to BBG’s volunteers.
- Assist with other tasks as assigned.
- Previous experience in visitor services, customer service, or retail, especially in a garden or cultural institution
- Excellent communication skills
- Exceptional people skills, including the ability to work with diverse individuals with a variety of personalities, strengths, and goals
- Cash-handling experience
- Valid driver’s license preferred
- Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays

Position Title: Seasonal Visitor Services Shift CaptainDepartment: Visitor Services
Reports to: Visitor Services Manager & Assistant Manager
FLSA Status: Part-Time, Seasonal, Non-Exempt
Term: March 2024–December 2024 (pending evaluation in June)
Compensation: $17 per hour
Schedule: 20–32 hours/week, three to four shifts per week, including weekends, evenings, and holidays
Position Description:
Brooklyn Botanic Garden seeks several seasonal Visitor Services shift captains for the Garden’s busy spring, summer, and fall seasons. Candidates must have customer service and cash-handling experience. Under the guidance of the Visitor Services management team, shift captains assist in overseeing the daily operations of the Garden’s admissions booths and related services.
