      Our Opportunity

      Thales UK CHQ Safety Eco-design & Certification Capability (SECC) team have an excellent opportunity for a SECC Head of Product Safety Assurance to join the team.

      This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Safety Engineering team who are responsible for the safety of the products and project solutions developed and deployed by the business line and compliance to safety principles, industry specific standards and best practices for the development of safe solutions.

      You will support the Safety Engineering Director (SED) in ensuring Legal and Regulatory compliance at a business organisational level and at a Products/Systems/Services (PSS) level.

      Day to day you will:

      • Assess CBU, Domain and CC compliance performance against Policies, Objectives and Targets.

      • Performance Monitoring - CBU/Domains and CCs against the management system models.

      • Lead, plan, coordinate and undertake appraisal activities relative to a compliant organisation and PSS.

      • Undertake Organisational Assurance activities e.g. OA3 audits of CBU/Domains and CCs.

      • Manage and Seek assurance that PSS safety & eco-design occurrences are resolved in a timely and competent manner and reported accordingly - Alignment to Thales UK overall appraisal/audit schedules - Support the development and delivery of PSS Engineering across Thales UK;

      • Promote the Product Safety & Eco-design Policies, Governance, Management Systems and Processes,

      • Attend the UK SAAG, CBU/Domains and CC PSCs and any other relevant meetings as required;

      • Represent Thales UK at related Thales Group events; - Represent Thales UK at Customer, Supplier, Regulator, Trade Organisation, Industry Body and Standards events; - Manage competence of Assurance SME’s

      • Identify and, where required, develop and deliver training solutions across Thales UK;

      • Facilitate Learning from Experience activities and communicate/share appropriate details. - Develop and propose objectives, targets and KPI’s to the SED & SAAG

      About You

      The following skills and experience will be required for this role:

      • Safety Management Processes, and be experienced in the implementation and delivery of safety activities.

      • Managing a specialist team interfacing with a wide range of providers and customers;

      • Awareness of product orientated Legislation, Regulation and Standards.

      • Product Development Lifecycle, its requirements and application (Design and Project Phase Reviews).

      • Broad experience in project management related skills – such as estimating, scheduling, monitoring, and budgeting.

      • Knowledge of quality management and configuration control;-Strong background in Engineering Practices.

      • Previous experience of working with military and industrial organisation.

      • Experienced in developing the strategy for evidence based arguments.

      • Good problem solving skills and well-developed data-gathering and analysis skills.

      • Experienced in interpreting requirements from contract and other relevant standards, producing best practice planning and implementation.
