    • Oversees implementation of all Utah Fine Arts core curriculum standards in grades 6 through 12 throughout the district.
    • Supports academic focus district-wide regarding course offerings, Curriculum Maps, Pacing Guides and Proficiency Scales.
    • Supports academic focus at the classroom level; ensuring understanding of content, skill development, and engagement through practice and application.
    • Provides professional learning experiences in curriculum, instructional strategies, differentiation and assessment in assigned areas.
    • Develops curriculum materials and resources for grades 6 through 12 related to assigned area.
    • Serves as a liaison for fine arts curricular focus to school administrators, teachers, board of education members, and outside districts.
    • Oversees and advances Proficiency-Based Learning for all fine arts.
    • Creates and maintains positive public relations with local and state organizations.
    • Administers budgets for all academic fine arts costs.
    • Chairs assigned committees and task forces.
    • Participates in professional organizations (e.g. UMEA, College Board AP. etc.).
    • Facilitates Fine Arts teacher online academic resources and credit recovery.
    • Manages all musical instrument repairs and replacement.
    • Instructs and consults teachers on the proper procedures related to instruments and equipment for coursework.
    • Work in close collaboration with Performing Fine Arts Specialist and BTS specialists.
    • Communicates proactively and regularly to address needs, questions and concerns from teachers.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • Possess strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Possess strong computer and educational technology skills.
    • Ability to work independently with little direct supervision.
    • Ability to work as part of a team.
    • Able to accept responsibility and be self-motivated.
    • Requires one of the following:
      • a valid Professional Educator License issued by the Utah State Board of Education with a secondary license area of concentration and one of the following endorsements:
        • Dance;
        • Film and Media Arts;
        • Music;
        • Theatre; or
        • Visual Arts; or
      • an equivalent license in another state or country.

      Job Summary:

      The Secondary Fine Arts Academic Specialist supports and oversees the implementation of all Utah Fine Arts core curriculum standards within Granite School District grades 6 through 12. The specialist is responsible for supporting academic focus at the classroom level and serving as a liaison for fine arts curricular focus to school administrators, teachers, board of education members, and other districts.
