      Role and Responsibilities

      Director of Security Engineering

      What you will do

      As a Director of Security Engineering, you will lead the team that builds our security platform and ensures alignment with industry standards and best practices. This team will work closely with other parts of the organization to ensure we have a best-in-class, secure and compliant product.

      You will be responsible for the recurring assessment of the state of Samsung Ads’s security posture against industry standards & best-practices, and provide recommendations for improvements across the organization to address security gaps across all relevant areas.

      As a leadership role within Samsung Ads, you will collaborate closely with both internal engineering leaders, as well as with Security departments within other functions of Samsung, including our HQ based in Korea. You will have the opportunity to plan and execute a strategy and support the organization in meeting specific business objectives.

      The ideal candidate has both deep technical knowledge of security industry best practices, and the ability to identify and improve the security posture of Samsung Ads. The candidate will also be able to communicate effectively across all levels of management to highlight risks, report on KPIs and discuss upcoming work. You will also manage a team of globally distributed security engineers.

      You will work with some incredibly talented and passionate developers with a solid technical background to bring products and services to a market with unique technical challenges.

      Key Responsibilities

      • Be a technical leader and manage security projects from idea through production implementation.

      • Lead and manage a team of globally distributed engineers and drive execution.

      • Create and communicate a technical roadmap in collaboration with our engineering platform teams as well as HQ Security.

      • Facilitate the review and verification of all third-party vendors, new and ongoing vendor relationships, with respect to the information security policies and procedures

      • Create and iterate on a holistic vision and strategy for security engineering initiatives in order to support meeting specific business and technology needs.

      • Evaluate and adopt cybersecurity tools and platforms to detect and prevent security risks.

      • Understand security risks and decisions, the implications to businesses continuity and communicate to leadership

      • Understand emerging security technologies and determine the appropriate use within business applications.

      • Work to create and gain adoption of security standards, processes, and guidelines that optimize our security posture.

      Required Skills And Experience

      • Minimum 8 years' experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related fields such as Statistics, Data Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

      • Experience in developing, implementing and monitoring an information security program

      • 10+ years of experience in a security engineering or similar role, with at least 4+ years in a leadership role.

      • Experience hiring and managing teams (globally preferred)

      • Strong knowledge of securing applications pre and post deployment

      • Experience in cross-functional collaboration with legal, operational, technical and third-party teams

      • Experience in enabling development teams in adopting a security first mindset and approach to development

      • Solid experience with variety of security systems across areas of defense, scanning & testing, monitoring & alerting, incident management, and others

      • Solid understanding of modern cloud architecture in AWS, Kubernetes, and infra-as-code)

      • Knowledge of information security management frameworks, such as ISO 27001, CIS 20 or NIST, SOC2

      • Solid understanding of key data protection regulations including GDPR & CCPA

      • Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent experience

      • Excellent communication skills in English is essential

      • Fluency in Korean is a bonus

      Compensation for this role is expected to be between $210,000 and $245,000. Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
