      About the Position:

      As a Security Dispatcher, you are responsible for staffing the Security Operations Center (SOC), coordinating communications and responses to security incidents and requests for equipment and services. You will also monitor CCTV footage and share information to ensure an orderly, safe and secure environment for customers and staff and a positive customer experience.

      Position Schedule

      • Tuesday-Saturday 1:00pm-9:30pm (some flexibility needed as hours may vary)

      What You’ll Do :

      • Actively monitors CCTV footage, radio systems, phones, news outlets and other sources for safety and security issues and emergency situations, taking action and communicating with appropriate individuals/authorities to coordinate response and maintain awareness.
      • Fields and initiates responses to requests for substitute Officer coverage, keys, badges and other Security-related services and equipment.
      • Under the direction of Security management, reviews, retains and releases CCTV footage according to policy and procedure.
      • Helps to coordinate equipment and technology repair with vendors and other library staff and provides status updates.
      • Ensures fire and intrusion alarms are being monitored and addresses issues with alarm systems in conjunction with Security management and the Property Management department.
      • Maintains spreadsheets and other databases for departmental use.
      • Helps to identify, document and update critical processes to ensure departmental continuity.
      • Takes the lead in communicating with authorities, utility companies, etc. during emergency situations, alleviating the need for those experiencing the emergency directly.
      • Assists with testing and validation of security equipment (lockdown buttons, alarm panels, panic buttons, security cameras, etc.) as needed.
      • Collaborates with law enforcement on public safety issues. Files police reports and appears in court as needed.
      • Documents incidents in the reporting software according to guidelines.
      • Assists in emergency response drills and other training throughout the year.
      • Performs additional duties as assigned.

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • High school diploma or G.E.D.
      • 6 months’ experience working with security technology (e.g. incident reporting software, CCTV systems, access control systems) or similar tools. Experience should include end user support and ticket/request management.
      • Ability to communicate effectively (written and orally over a variety of mediums), manage multiple priorities simultaneously and exercise considerable discretion and independent judgement in rapidly evolving situations.
      • Demonstrated attention to detail.
      • Experience working in a call/dispatch center or similar environment preferred.
      • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings, willing to carry a cellular telephone as directed by management for response to library emergencies and service requests.
      • Systems configuration, monitoring, and maintenance knowledge of Security Operations Center technologies, Kantech global edition, ReportExec incident reporting, Exacq vision CCTV, and Computer Aided Dispatch.
      • Ability to operate library technology including personal computer, email, software programs (i.e. Windows/Microsoft Office) and other job related equipment and systems.
      • Ability to utilize reliable transportation to promptly report to job assignment and other locations, per job requirements. Valid driver license which meets the minimum requirements of CML’s vehicle insurance policy.

      Working Conditions and Physical Demands

      The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, libraries, and residences or commercial vehicles (e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, and/or working in moderate outdoor weather conditions).
