Job Description

- Patrols building and grounds to make routine checks of equipment, grounds, and property, and to check for danger from fire, theft, or other hazards. Oversees who comes and goes from a building or the premises to prevent illegal entry.
- Logs arrival and departure of paid guests and verifies their identification and right to be on site during night shift.
- Reports emergency events to proper management; prepares and distributes incident reports for documentation purposes.
- Patrols and monitors parking areas and warns violators of rule infractions when appropriate. Notifies local authorities when necessary.
- Performs basic first aid or CPR to treat guests and employees; contacts appropriate emergency medical services when needed.
- Interacts with guests and provide assistance in matters including safety and security, to bolster loss prevention efforts and to offer general customer assistance; shares information about the Conference Center and surrounding area to maximize guest experience.
- Responsible for maintaining clear and concise logs of all nightly occurrences, and suspicious activity.
- Monitors night security phone.
- Lock property entrances when required.
- Assist in training new temporary staff in night duties as required.
- Attend any departmental meetings or training as per the schedule.
- Follow protocols established such as wintertime building checks.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be professional and reliable.
- Basic computer skills
- Familiarity with report writing.
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently, particularly when under duress.
- Ability to stand/walk for long durations.
- Excellent decision-making skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with management , customers, and the public.
- Ability to exercise good judgement.
- Ability to maintain records according to a prescribed format.
- Excellent surveillance and observation skills.
- Be able to work independently with little supervision or as part of a team.
- Excellent customer service skills (both written and verbal.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- Satisfactory completion of pre-employment drug testing.
- Satisfactory completion of pre-employment law enforcement background investigation, including DMV records.
- Must maintain a positive image of the Commissioner, West Virginia Department of Agriculture.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Nature of Work :
Responsible for providing security and safety for the guests, staff, and facility during an overnight shift. Work involves periodic inspection and patrol of buildings, grounds, offices, and equipment to prevent theft, vandalism, and illegal activities. In addition to security-focused tasks, the position will provide assistance and information to visitors and onsite guests. Serves as the overnight contact for carrying out inclement weather protocols and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications :
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
Two years of experience in a similar role in a hospitality/conference environment preferred.
Substitutions:

Licenses/ Certifications:
CPR or Basic First Aid certifications are preferred.
