- PA - Act 235 certification required for Pennsylvania facilities.
Job Details
The Security Manager is responsible for the everyday operational functions of the Department of Security by leading and controlling daily activity and ensuring optimal use of departmental resources. The Security Manager also supports the Director/VP with the planning, development and administration of security programs in accordance with all applicable regulations and hospital policies. Primary responsibilities include oversight of scheduling and deployment of personnel to ensure adequate security coverage, as well as formal and ongoing training and evaluation of supervisor and officer performance.
•Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson
•Oversees the daily operations of the Department of Security, including: personnel scheduling and deployment, managing employee attendance and addressing corrective action for attendance issues, oversight of biweekly payroll submissions, and overtime cost evaluations.
•Maintains constant dialogue with supervisory team (sergeants and lieutenants) to ensure a safe and secure environment and officers' fulfillment of the duties of their post to desired expectations. Provides regular performance feedback to supervisory and staff personnel in support of ongoing professional development.
•Oversees the departmental performance evaluation process, including the delivery of timely annual evaluations of supervisory personnel and ensuring supervisors' evaluation of staff officers. Develops performance improvement and recognition programs to enhance staff performance. Responds to complaints received about officer conduct/performance.
•Assists the director/VP in policy planning in support of a secure environment, high-functioning department and superior level of customer service. Participates in policy meetings and decisions regarding department operations. Designs and drafts security procedures consistent with operational needs, and is a key leader in implementing policy among staff.
•Leads and coordinates departmental hiring committee in partnership with Human Resources/Recruiting, including the development of the interview structure, final recommendations on hiring decisions, and monitoring new hire probationary periods.
•Supports university/hospital security details, including the coordination and supervision of security details for special events and the management of both long and short-term security and/or event projects.
•Other duties include: maintenance of department personnel files and records of competency/training and certifications; responsibility for all departmental disciplinary action, including supporting supervisors in disciplinary measures; other processes related to the human resource management of the department; managing internal investigations under the supervision of the DirectorJob Description
