- Req#: 645181
- Partners with the Guest Services team to enhance security and to create a patient and family-centered culture
- Responsible for day-to-day operations at our entrances by maintaining a safe environment and utilizing the weapons detection systems
- Provides superior customer service and is trained in de-escalation techniques and conflict management
- work closely with internal security patrols of JHMI buildings to protect against illegal activities, theft, fire, hazardous conditions, infringements, etc. when/where necessary
- Ensures no one enters the hospital with any weapons or other unpermitted objects that would potentially cause a safety issue within our hospital
- Candidate must be 21 years of age or older in order to apply and test for the Security Police Officer License.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record/ history with no more than 2 points.
- Minimum of one year of security experience is highly preferred.
- Successful completion of basic security officer training and customer service training within the first 90 days of hire
- Previous hospital security experience a plus
- May have to work other shifts as necessary. 30-day notice prior to any shift change.

Duties of Safety and Security Officer:
The Safety and Security Officer- Weapons Detection Systems is stationed at Sibley Memorial Hospital entrances with the weapons detection system.
Requirements of Security Specialist:

Full-Time (40 hours per week)
Night Shift
Weekend work required
Non-Exempt
Salary Range: Minimum 20.10 per hour - Maximum 26.63 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
