      Security Officer

      Knoxville Center for Behavioral Medicine - a comprehensive inpatient behavioral health facility. Our center will provide acute behavioral health care and outpatient treatment to adults and geriatric adults who are in crisis from severe symptoms related to behavioral health and/or substance use disorder.

We would like for you to consider our behavioral safety officer opportunity for our new hospital and carry out our vision of bringing communities, healthcare providers, and families together to improve behavioral health, one patient at a time. We provide psychiatric care to adults and geriatric patients who require inpatient hospitalization due to mental disorders like cognitive illnesses.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

      • Interacts frequently with unit personnel, visitors, patients’ families, and all other hospital personnel for the purpose of maintaining a safe environment.
      • Responds to Codes for de-escalation for crisis situations.
      • Position involves multi-tasking in a high stress environment.
      • Must have the ability to exercise judgment and initiative in the resolution of problems encountered.
      • Requires the ability to teach Secure Training to other staff members in hospital.
      • Receives and secures patients’ personal property.
      • Requires constant mental alertness and the ability to perform duties calmly and accurately when subjected to frequent and varied interruptions.
      • The position is responsible for assisting in maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, employees, and property while following KCBM procedures.
      • Other duties as assigned.


      Qualifications

      • TN State Unarmed Security License along with Valid TN Driver’s License
      • High School graduate or equivalent
      • Must be proficient in oral & written communication and must be computer literate.
      • Prior experience in a psychiatric hospital setting is preferred.
      • Critical thinking skills to be pro-active and evaluate situations that could cause a threat.
      • History of reliable attendance with previous employers
      • Ability to speak and write concisely with knowledge of medical terminology desirable.
      • Observes patient’s rights to confidentiality and adheres to the KCBM’s employee code of conduct.
