      The Bureau of Buildings and Grounds is seeking interested candidates to fill the position of Security Officer atthe Illinois State Fairgrounds. Security is provided 24/7/365 to ensure the protection of employees, visitors and buildings and grounds. Security Officers are an integral part of the Buildings and Grounds team, and we invite all candidates interested in this position to apply today.

      Essential Functions

      • Patrols all buildings and grounds areas of the Illinois State Fairgrounds.
      • Operates radio and mobile phone to dispatch calls.
      • Completes daily activity reports indicating the vehicle milage and activities performed during the shift.
      • Responds to emergency situations and drills.
      • Lifts, carries and utilizes assigned and designated equipment.
      • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

      Minimum Qualifications

      • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Prefers working knowledge of facility security requirements and regulation.
      • Prefers working knowledge of security enforcement practices and techniques.
      • Prefers working knowledge of emergency response procedures and techniques.
      • Prefers experience writing activity and incident reports.

      Conditions of Employment

      • Requires valid driver’s license.
      • Requires the ability to lift no more than 20 lbs. This job may require a good deal of walking or standing.
      • Requires the ability to work off-shift, including weekends and holidays
      • Requires ability to complete a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
      • Requires the ability to pass a pre-employment physical.
      • Requires the ability to complete CPR/First-Aid/AED training with successful certification.
      • Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled or last-minute overtime. This requires the ability to work evenings and weekends.
