      Position Highlights

      The University of Arizona’s College of Applied Science and Technology (CAST) is seeking a Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst who will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Security Operations Center (SOC) in the facilities management building on main campus, with duties and responsibilities consistent with CAST’s purpose, vision, and values.

      This position requires the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. It will ensure the security of all UA facilities' critical infrastructure, systems, and personnel within the organization. This position involves mentoring security teams of student workers, implementing security protocols, and coordinating with other departments to maintain a safe and secure environment for all stakeholders.

      This is an on-site position at the University of Arizona’s Main Campus in Tucson. The University of Arizona's College of Applied Science and Technology is a National Security Agency-designated Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Operations (CAE-CO), and an Office of the Director of National Intelligence-designated Intelligence Community Center of Academic Excellence (IC CAE). CAST is the only college at the University of Arizona that offers a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) Degree. CAST education is facilitated by the college’s one-of-a-kind Virtual Learning Environment that includes CyberApolis, a unique virtual city of 15,000 AI-driven bots who conduct business, engage in cyber media, and demonstrate human vulnerabilities that support scenarios in our classes.       Duties & Responsibilities
      • Conduct continuous monitoring of highly technical research and data cyber security systems and technology.
      • Conduct network traffic research analysis and identify anomalies providing reports for review and accuracy of work.
      • Create and manage Indications of Compromise (IOCs) and threat signatures and behaviors. Review IOCs with others for strength and good practices.
      • With oversight by other professionals conduct the identification, analysis, and response to cybersecurity incidents or breaches to the facilities management central plants and critical infrastructure.
      • Ensure timely response and resolution of simple cyber security issues, including coordinating emergency responses. Working with higher level professional on complex cyber security issues.
      • Assist in researching and recommending security policies, procedures, and protocols.
      • Collaborate with UA facilities management to ensure cyber security needs are integrated into operations and maintenance of facilities infrastructure.
      • Review and update security strategies regularly based on emerging threats and technological advancements.
      • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the cyber security technology systems created by others.
      • Ensure proper maintenance, testing, and upgrading of all security-related technologies as part of the ongoing research project.
      • Maintain accurate records of security incidents, investigations, and outcomes.
      • Prepare regular reports on security activities, incidents, and trends for senior management.
      • Ensure consistency with security regulations, policies, and industry standards.
      • With moderate guidance mentor a team of student workers and personnel within the SOC.
      • Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide input on regular performance evaluations for students.
      • Provide training and development opportunities to SOC student workers to enhance skills and knowledge.

      • Ability to communicate effectively with different groups/individuals.
      • Possess a full range and depth of professional knowledge and experience which allows them to work independently.
      • Knowledge of Cyber Security protocols
      • Ability to quickly learn new training requirements and recommend solutions to issues.
      • Ability to use critical, independent thinking.
      • Compile and analyze data related to program administration.
      • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
      • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

      • Proficient in Windows OS and MS Office Suite
      Minimum Qualifications
      • Bachelor’s degree in cyber operations or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
      • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience.

      Previous experience with Operational Technology (OT Security)
