      Job Description:

      This is a full-time, permanent, management service position which is not represented by a union.

      The Oregon Health Authority (OHA), Oregon State Hospital (OSH) is recruiting for a Security Operations Supervisor in Salem, Oregon to manage daily hospital security operations including perimeter patrol, contraband search and seizure, ground and physical security, access control, and dispatching units.

      Shift: Friday – Sunday 5:30 PM to 7:20 AM

      The Oregon State Hospital provides patient-centered, psychiatric treatment for adults from throughout the state who need hospital-level care. Our primary goal is to help people recover from their illness and return to the community.       You will work in a secure, seven-day-a-week facility and may work holidays and weekends if assigned. Daily onsite presence is necessary though occasional telework may be approved. You may be required to work hours that are subject to change with little notice, and/or work hours that exceed regular schedules.

      What will you do?
      As a Security Operations Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:

      • Manage daily hospital security operations such as perimeter patrol, contraband search and seizure, physical security, access control, unit dispatch, integrity of secured perimeter, visitation processing, investigations, emergent code responses, court appearances, and admissions management to ensure the safety and security of staff, patients and visitors.

      • Ensure regulatory compliance to enforce laws, regulations, policies and protocols with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Joint Commission (TJC), and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Oregon Health Authority (OHA), and the Oregon State Hospital (OSH) and participate in regulatory inspections and audits.

      • Supervise, plan, assign, approve, and follow-up with daily activities assigned to staff such as process improvement, accreditation, certification, and licensure of OSH campuses.

      • Coordinate and assist in security related programs and activities such as the critical incident notification system, video surveillance program, investigations, parking enforcement, and ID badge program.

      • Coordinate security responses to emergency incidents requiring safety and security response.

      • Consult with OSH staff, Oregon State Police, and local law enforcement to coordinate investigations, identify issues, and improve the safety and security for staff, patients, and visitors.

      • Provide short and long-term strategies related to hospital security operations to accomplish unit and department goals and mission that support OSH’s vision and mission.

      • Develop program policies and protocols to ensure the safety of staff, patients, and visitors.

      • Determine and plan budgetary needs required to maintain hospital security operations, determine resource allocation, and track expenditures.

      What are we looking for?

      Minimum Requirements

      Four years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience in security program management or a related field.

      OR

      One year of experience in security program management and a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

      Requested Skills

      • Experience managing security programs and staff for a large, 24-hour health care facility.

      • Knowledge of OSHA and CMS regulations and compliance, and TJC standards.

      • Must be able to obtain and maintain access to FBI Criminal Justice Information Service systems, which is determined through a National Fingerprint Based Criminal History Record check.

      • Must be able to be Certified and maintain Certification at the inquiry and entry levels for the Law Enforcement Data System Terminal.

      • Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record and meet requirements of insurability for ODHS/OHA.

      • Demonstrate competency, diplomacy, and professionalism in both written and verbal communications.

      • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams and willingness to learn new technology.
