      THE POSITION IN A NUTSHELL

      Sciens Building Solutions is seeking an experienced Security Service Technician with programming, troubleshooting, and repair capabilities and experience. This position will work closely with our service team and clients to ensure our critical life safety systems are repaired in an efficient manner to maintain their overall performance. This is a key position for our growing team and requires attention to detail in all aspects of system troubleshooting and repair. Customer and employee interface require a high degree of effective human relations. Communication skills, both written and verbal, are important elements of the position.

      WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (and doing well!)

      • Troubleshoot and repair security systems including analog, IP, addressable, and networked solutions.
      • Program and maintain equipment and systems including intrusion detection, video surveillance, asset protection, environmental detection, holdup/duress, integrated systems and equipment related to the alarm monitoring station.
      • Use a variety of troubleshooting tools to analyze systems and detect fault conditions.
      • Produce repair reports in accordance with best practices for customer acceptance and billing information.
      • Produce field surveys and daily project logs of activity.
      • Responsible for programming, commissioning, and final acceptance by customers, engineering forms and end users.
      • Responsible for complex troubleshooting and effective resolution.
      • Responsible for programming systems via laptop computers.
      • Oversight for project inventory and responsible for vehicle inventory.
      • Provide support, guidance, and expertise to other technicians.

      WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT YOU!

      • Two to five years of experience in a technician role within the security/low voltage industry.
      • Knowledge of current security systems including access control, IP video, and voice and data systems.
      • Ability to program and repair video, access control and security systems using a laptop computer.
      • Basic knowledge of computer server operating systems and IP network technologies.
      • Ability to write reports containing technical information.
      • Ability to program and troubleshoot mid-range to complex security systems.
      • Ability to read security system design drawings.
      • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
      • Knowledge of security industry.
      • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
      • Customer-focused; skilled in project and people management.
      • Ability to manage job scheduling and job progress in an efficient and cost-effective manner, with a strong focus on quality.
      • Proficient in issue resolution.
      • Excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.
      • Ability to travel occasionally overnight, as needed.
