      Position Summary:

      The Security Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of Heritage Community of Kalamazoo’s Security and Transportation Department, including direct supervision of security and transportation staff. The Security Supervisor is committed to maintaining the highest level of safety and security for our residents and staff. The Security Department operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to support HCK. T he salary range for this position is $41,184-61,799.


      Major Responsibilities

      The Security Supervisor will:

      • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal guidelines for emergency management, security, and transportation.
      • Ensure a safe and clean environment for the residents, visitors, and staff of the facilities and organization.
      • Schedule staff to cover 24/7 security and transportation needs.
      • Develop staff in both technical and professional skills through performance management (coaching, training, counseling, annual formal performance evaluations, and employee recognition.)
      • Ensure security staff are trained in all emergency management procedures.
      • Respond to resident concerns involving security and transportation.
      • Complete supervisor duties, including hiring, timekeeping, and progressive discipline.
      • Develop, monitor, and update safety and transportation policies and procedures.
      • Conduct and supervise investigations related to accidents, thefts, and property loss.
      • Conduct risk management assessments.
      • Liaison with local fire, EMS, and law enforcement agencies
      • Provide ongoing updates on security and transportation goals and objectives to senior management.
      • Provide security team support with campus event planning, scheduling, setup, and take down.
      • Oversee the transportation of residents on and off campus for inner building events, doctor appointments, Church, etc.
      • Maintain the vehicle maintenance schedule for the security and transportation department vehicles.
      • Perform the functions of the Security Assistant position when necessary.
      • Other duties as assigned.

      Required Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

      • CPR and first aid certification or the ability to obtain the certification within 3 months of employment.
      • Valid Michigan Driver's License.
      • Chauffeur's License when eligible (within 6 months when job duties require).
      • Small Bus Certification testing when eligible and job duties require.

      Knowledge and Critical Skills / Expertise

      • Ability to manage multiple priorities, complex situations, a diverse team of employees, and resident needs.
      • Interpersonal and communications skills/
      • Ability to be discrete, tactful, and timely when addressing internal and external issues involving residents, visitors, and staff.
      • Ability to maintain confidentiality as it relates to resident and staff information.
      • Ability to use various electronic communication devices, including phones, computers, and tablets.
      • Knowledge of Microsoft programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
      • 3 years of experience working in a security-related field.
      • 2-3 years of business operations/supervisory experience.
      • At least 18 years of age.
