The Security Systems Manager will manage the overall security program for the Office of Student Life including trend analysis, assessments and manage capital projects and day to day activities of physical security systems such as cameras, duress/security alarms and access control. The Security Systems Manager interviews, hires, trains, evaluates and supervises one to two full time staff; develops security and risk mitigation philosophy and initiatives for all Student Life facilities based on industry best practices and periodically reviews that philosophy to ensure that the goals are in line with newly developed technology and the adapting needs of our customers; Serves as project manager and subject matter expert on all large scale physical security projects within SL facilities for both software/technology development and physical projects in conjunction with SL Building and Mechanical Services, SL Facility Planning and Design SL Technology Services, BuckID and FOD-Facilities Design and Construction; develops strategic plan for the conversion of existing door hardware to electronic access; responsible for performing all baseline and ongoing physical security assessments of our properties over a large geographical area on the central and regional campuses; systematically reviews information uncovered by security assessments and make recommendations and assessment reports to address vulnerability gaps in order to meet Student Life's security & risk mitigation goals; provides strategic vision and assists in the development of training sessions for Student Life staff on the policies and procedures related to all physical security devices present in facilities; serves as SL Risk and Emergency Management (REM) liaison to SL departments for development of access plans from a risk based perspective for all SL facilities; directs the promotion and enforcement of key control policies and procedures across Student Life; serves as alternate to director for crisis response related issues; serves as alternate to director representing Student Life at the University Emergency Operations Center; serves as the liaison between SL REM and BuckID, FOD Lock Shop and Department of Public Safety staff as it relates to Student Life physical security issues; position requires the incumbent to be available for call ins 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year; must be able to meet Student Life's driver check requirements.
In accordance with the Disaster Preparedness and University State of Emergency Policy 6.17 this position has been designated as an essential (short term) and alternate (long term) position. Emergency Closing Designation (Short-Term): ESSENTIAL employee - one who has been designated as critical to the operation of the unit, whose presence is required regardless of the existence of an emergency condition, and whose absence from duty could endanger the safety and well-being of the campus population and/or physical plant. Employees may be designated as essential on a situational basis (such as, in the event of a public health crisis, etc.). Disaster Designation (Long-Term): ESSENTIAL employee - one who has been designated as critical to the operation of the unit, whose presence is required regardless of the existence of an emergency condition, and whose absence from duty could endanger the safety and well-being of the campus population and/or physical plant. Employees may be designated as essential on a situational basis (such as, in the event of a public health crisis, etc.).
Minimum Education Required
Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications
Required: Bachelors Degree or equivalent education and work experience; 5 years? experience in project management, program planning and/or administration; must be able to meet Student Lifes driver check requirements.
Desired: Masters Degree or equivalent education and experience in higher education, business administration or Homeland Security; knowledge of facility management, door hardware, or other physical security elements preferably in a university setting; strong working knowledge of the entire MS office suite and security management programs; ability to learn/adapt to new computer platforms and programs; strong interpersonal, verbal, presentation and written communication skills.Additional Information:
Salary Range: $92,000 - $123,000
