Open Until Filled - 12-month position (260 days / year), 8 hours per day
- Daily Work Hours: TBD
- Support Salary Scale Grade S10: $26.27 per hour; starting
- Installs new security camera systems (CCTV) to include recording devices, cameras, monitors and other related peripherals.
- Trains staff on the use of security camera systems.
- Performs scheduled/preventive maintenance and needed repairs on security camera equipment in our buildings. Serves as liaison with vendors concerning warranty issues.
- Establishes and maintains effective professional relationships with co-workers, administrative staff, school staff, and local regulatory and safety officials.
- Acts as a liaison with the Facilities Service Division staff.
- Responds to requests for service; performs diagnostic tests and repairs in a timely and courteous manner.
- Reports security systems that have been breached or compromised to the Director of Safety & Emergency Management Department.
- Records/preserves camera footage of security violations.
- Maintains inventory of repair parts and orders repairs as needed.
- Works with vendors and manufacturers to stay current with changes in industry standards.
- Assists with other technical security functions as assigned.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three (3) years of experience in CCTV installation and maintenance.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to operate a vehicle
- Excellent human relations skills.
- Capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Capable of climbing ladders, lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. or more.
- Ability to walk long distances.
- Ability to spend long hours standing.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms.
- Sufficient manual dexterity to grasp, handle, manipulate, and/or feel objects and use office technology.
- Sufficient mobility to move about the work area.
- Sufficient vision to read and comprehend printed materials, see distant objects with clarity, and identify and distinguish objects.
- Sufficient hearing to hear and comprehend conversations in person and on the telephone, as well as distinguish sounds up to twenty (20) feet.
- Occasionally climb or balance.
- Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Security and Emergency Management Experience
- Familiarity with the FCPS policies, goals and programs.
- Experience with various CCTV software programs and equipment

Salary
Under the Fair Labor and Standards Act this position is non-exempt from overtime. Actual salary placement will be in accordance with the salary procedures of the Frederick County Public School System.
Role
The Security Technician performs preventive maintenance/repair, installation and assists with the design of security camera systems in our buildings. Assists with other technical security functions as needed. This position reports directly to the Director of Safety & Emergency Management Department.
