JOB TITLE: Self Seal Operator
DEPARTMENT: Self Seal
REPORTS TO: Self Seal Value Stream Team Leader
POSITION SUMMARY: An independent process that entails slitting tubular pipe insulation and applying an adhesive tape layer to the slit inner edges of the material. The material can either be elastomeric (rubber) or thermoplastic (plastic). The material is unslit production stock that is received into the department as consumer orders. Operators will unpack the unslit material and process onto the self seal machine where it is slit and the adhesive tape layer is adhered to the insulation. The operator is responsible for continuous and safe operation of themselves and the equipment. Once the self seal system has been applied to the insulation, the material is repackaged and rebranded as "self seal". The self seal system reduces total application time and makes installation easier for its end users.
JOB SPECIFIC TASKS:
· Set and change the various equipment conditions as needed to meet customer specifications
· Coordinate size changes
· Understand and implement the weekly schedule and the 24 hour plan
· Frequent quality checks of material (visual checks, AIMS, QMS, etc)
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Must be able to read, write, and do basic math. Must have an understanding of all Tube Line jobs. Must be able to effectively communicate and lead a work group.
EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of one year of experience within Armacell is highly preferred.
