Daily operations of the accounting department include: Month and end-year process Accounts payable/receivable Cash receipts General ledger Payroll expense apportionment ERP integrations Deferred revenue reconciliation Balance sheet account reconciliations Achieves accounting operational objectives by contributing accounting information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change Meets accounting financial objectives by forecasting requirements; assists in preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions Confirms financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses; coordinating the collection, reconciliation, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data; preparing special reports Maintain accounting controls by managing a chart of accounts; defining accounting policies and procedures Avoids legal challenges by understanding current and proposed legislation Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure including full knowledge of accrual based accounting Collaborates with the other department managers to support overall department goals and objectives Support CFO with special projects and workflow process improvements What are some must-haves?
