Job Description

Ensure assigned loan accounting functions are accurately completed in a timely manner in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements.
Assist with preparation and backup reporting for the quarterly NCUA 5300 Call Report.
Investigate and explain monthly variances of income and expense general ledger loan accounts.
Support activities for external audits and regulatory exams by assisting with collecting, reviewing and providing requested loan reports and documentation.
Accurately prepare assigned balance sheet reconciliations by established deadlines in the Blackline Reconciliation software system. Utilize Blackline software functionality to streamline reconciliation processes.
Properly account for monthly settlements from 3rd party loan servicers that includes retrieving & analyzing servicer remittance reports for accuracy, preparing monthly journal entries and import files.
Complete monthly file preparation for assigned 3rd party servicer data files for upload to nCino and DOMO Finance and Accounting systems.
Monitor and review daily/monthly 3rd party servicer data files for accuracy and work closely with servicers on data integrity and integration of missing/needed data fields.
Assist with implementation of new 3rd party relationships and loan/pool purchases, at the direction of the Accounting Manager. Assist with developing processes and procedures to be implemented into daily/monthly operations. Further assist with training other team members.
Review and monitor monthly loan delinquency and monthly charge-off activity for sourced, purchased and participated loan portfolios serviced by a 3rd party.
Continued focus on identifying and implementing process improvements in accounting procedures, accounting system efficiencies, and data transformation efforts.
Maintain current procedures for all role functions. Ensure a minimum of one other Accounting team member is cross-trained in all role functions.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of policies and procedures and trends in the credit union industry.
Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred; equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
5-7 years related work experience.
Full-time hours required with additional hours as necessary.
Proficient in MS Office and various data transformation tools, with ability to quickly learn various accounting related systems. Must have proficient knowledge in Excel and PowerQuery.
Ability to collect, analyze and interpret large volume of data from various sources.
Advanced analytical skills to interpret and translate loan information/data.
Must be detail oriented with ability to understand, analyze, and complete reporting requirements.
Self-motivation and strong work ethic combined with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and proven ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Strong analytical, problem solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.

SUMMARY:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the accuracy of assigned sourced, purchased and sold Loan Accounting processes, monthly/quarterly reporting, and variance review. This individual is regarded as a subject matter expert of externally serviced loan portfolios and is expected to leverage their knowledge to interpret and analyze integrity of 3rd party servicer data/files. Also, they are expected to integrate and implement new 3rd party servicers and work closely with team members to identify, recommend and implement process improvements, while utilizing advanced knowledge of accounting systems and data transformation tools.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily.
