- Support the close processes through accurate and timely preparation of monthly journal entries
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and internal reporting
- Reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Perform account analysis to identify trends and variances
- Manage fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and amortization Assist with tax filings and regulatory reporting
- Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies
- Assist Accounts Payable Manager with vendor invoices, ensuring all payment transactions are processed accurately and efficiently
- Ensure internal and external reporting deadlines are met
- Provide support for financial statement audit
- Maintain internal control environment to ensure compliance with US GAAP and company policies
- Special projects as assigned in areas such as regulatory compliance, treasury, cash flow and strategic initiatives
- Review current processes and policies and recommend process improvements
- Collaborate with team members in corporate office and the communities
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting or related field
- 5+ years of relevant experience with demonstrated ability to advance
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, accounting principles, and internal controls, including ASC 606 & ASC 842
- Expertise in technical accounting and general ledger reconciliation
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively
- Motivated self-starter able to successfully set and meet goals
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
- Proficient with MS office (especially Excel) and accounting systems (Intacct preferred)
- Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting or related field
- CPA license
- Experience with Sage Intacct
Maxwell Group is now accepting applications for a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills and an understanding of financial principles. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting and effective management of the general ledger. Maxwell Group is based in Charlotte, North Carolina and currently manages retirement communities in Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Maxwell Group provides development, operational, marketing, sales, accounting, IT, design, and construction services support to communities with more than 3,250 units and 3,000 employees. The Senior Accountant will collaborate with various departments to support our communities and financial initiatives. This is a full-time, hybrid role that requires work from the office 3 days per week and remote 2 days per week.
