      The Senior Accountant responsibilities include reconciling balance sheet accounts, maintaining the general ledger, performing month-end and year-end closes, and ensuring efficiency in all accounting tasks. The role requires excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, along with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. The individual will work with minimal oversight on complex accounting tasks, applying theories, concepts, principles, and standards to financial activities. This position reports to the Sr. Accounting Manager and involves managing all grant-related functions, including budgeting, invoicing, forecasting, and liaising with project managers and funders.

      Compensation: $97,700-$118,900 annually, based on experience. Compensation is determined through a market analysis, considering experience, education, skills, and certifications, ensuring fair and equitable pay.

      Responsibilities:

      1. Perform timely, efficient, and accurate month-end and year-end closes, including general ledger and subsidiary ledger reconciliations.
      2. Apply accounting theories, concepts, principles, and standards to financial activities in accordance with policies and regulations.
      3. Prepare and analyze financial statements, identifying discrepancies for review.
      4. Assist in developing program and organizational budgets.
      5. Prepare journal entries for grants, revenues, receivables, and expenses per agreements.
      6. Create and submit invoices to funders, ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
      7. Manage grant receivables and monitor cash flow.
      8. Oversee fixed asset accounting, including depreciation and asset tracking.
      9. Support audits and maintain audit work papers.
      10. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
      11. Participate in key initiatives and ad-hoc projects.
      12. Suggest improvements in accounting procedures.
      13. Ensure compliance with GAAP.
      14. Perform other duties as assigned.

      Requirements:

      • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or five years of related experience.
      • Minimum of five years in financial accounting; non-profit experience preferred.
      • Experience with accounting systems is preferred.

      Qualifications:

      • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects under pressure.
      • Strong communication skills.
      • Deep understanding of GAAP and accounting procedures.
      • Knowledge of confidentiality standards per HIPAA.
      • Advanced Excel skills (Vlookup, Xlookup, Index/Match, Sumifs, PivotTables).
      • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
      • Team-oriented attitude.
      • Experience with accounting systems preferred.
